Polyester double knit button up jersey with stitched logo, name, and numbers. On September 1, 1989, acting commissioner Bart Giamatti died of a massive heart attack, ending a difficult 154 day term in which he faced with many difficult decisions. The 1989 World Series between the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants was played in the late commissioner's honor and both teams wore black armbands. That year, the San Francisco Giants were led to the first Battle of the Bay World Series by Will Clark, their sweet swinging first baseman who had just been named MVP of the National League Championship Series. On October 17, 1989 the San Francisco bay area was rocked by a deadly earthquake, postponing the third game of the World Series at Candlestick Park. The series would resume ten days later as the Oakland A's went on to beat the Giants in a four game sweep.
