New York Yankees 1973 Jersey - Thurman Munson

The 1973 season marked the 50th Anniversary of Yankee Stadium. On the sleeve of their jersey the Yankees wore a patch to commemorate the history of their home. Yankee Stadium was built after Babe Ruth arrived in 1920, and is referred to as "the house that Ruth built." In 1923, Ruth was the main attraction in baseball, reviving the game with the creation of the long ball. The Yankees spent the 1974 and 1975 seasons at Shea Stadium while their home was being renovated by the city of New York. When they returned in 1976, they celebrated with a trip to the World Series.
