New York Mets 1969 Home Jersey - Tom Seaver

The National League expanded into Canada for the first time in 1969 with the forming of the Montreal Expos. Seven years earlier, the New York Mets joined the National League as an expansion team. The Mets had yet to post a winning record as they entered the 1969 season. Mets pitching ace Tom Seaver impressed fans and management alike during the 1969 season, with 25 wins, and his first career Cy Young Award. The Mets posted 100 wins and defeated the Atlanta Braves for the National League pennant. In the 1969 World Series the Mets were heavily overmatched by the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles succumbed to the Mets in just five games, and the Mets ended their first winning season with a World Series title.
