Woody Hayes: Fiery and controversial yet compassionate and concerned, these are but a few of the words to describe of one of college footballs most successful -- yet contentious -- coaches, Woody Hayes. In 28 season as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Hayes won three national titles, thirteen Big Ten championships, coached scores of all-Americans and some of college footballs most legendary players. He also gained a reputation as a harsh disciplinarian given to unpredictable outburst of rage and fury. But those who knew him best knew Woody as a man of deep convictions who dedicated his life to the people around him. For Woody, the concept was called Paying Forward and it became the cornerstone of his life and the foundation of his legacy.1995 Notre Dame: On September 30th, 1995, two of college footballs most powerful and storied programs met in Ohio Stadium to renew a rivalry left dormant for almost 60 years. Their previous battle in the Horseshoe had been called the greatest game in the first 50 years of college football, but victory that day was with the Irish. The return engagement offered John Coopers Buckeyes a chance for revenge and their own place in Buckeye history.
