2004 Sugar Bowl: LSU vs. Oklahoma

The stage was set on January 4, 2004, as the top-rated scoring offense of the Oklahoma Sooners collided with the top-rated defense of the LSU Tigers in the New Orleans Superdome for the 2004 Nokia Sugar Bowl and the BCS National Championship. Led by a dominating defensive performance, LSU stunned Oklahoma`s Heisman quarterback with an unrelenting assault that left the Sooners scrambling for offense. LSUs defense recorded 5 sacks, forced 2 fumbles and returned an interception for a touchdown while holding Oklahoma to only 154 total offensive yards. That night, the Tigers weathered a late-game comeback attempt by Oklahoma to deliver LSU fans from a 45-year drought with an unforgettable return to glory as the National Champions.
