Led by freshman sensation Carmelo Anthony, the hot-shooting Orangemen of Syracuse held off a late charge by Kansas to win the national title. Coach Jim Boeheim's third trip to the NCAA Championship game was a charm, as Anthony (the tournament's most outstanding player) and fellow freshman Gerry McNamara, playing with a poise well beyond his years, led the Orangemen past the Jayhawks 81-78. 111 Minutes
