The USC Trojans were the only major college football team to make it through the regular season without a loss. Only Stanford came within 10 points of USC that year in their loss to the Trojans (30-21). USC ended the season very strongly, first blowing out Notre Dame 45-23 and then doing the same to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl by a score of 42-17. Fullback Sam Cunningham scored four times against the Buckeyes in the win that gave them the national title.
